| Shopaholics rejoice, you've discovered a shopping heaven right here on Phuket. There are markets at all of the beach locations and you should make sure that you get up into the sois (lanes) off the main roads, to look for the many bargains that are to be found. An integral part of most Asian shopping trips is the art of haggling. Thais are masters of it, and it really is an enjoyable part of shopping here. Take it easy and enjoy the whole shopping thing. It will add to your fun, Thai holiday experience. |

JUNGCEYLON SHOPPING CENTRE -
The newest
department store on Phuket Island and it's located right in the
middle of Patong. Has a bit of everything. Name brands in footwear
and clothing and market goods. Lots of Thai handicrafts available.
Pubs, restaurants, fast food outlets, cinemas, electrical goods and
almost anything that you can think of. Make sure that you catch the
water fountain light show playing each evening. It's certainly well
worth a look. OCEAN SHOPPING CENTRES - Located on the beach road, towards the southern end, and another on Bangla Road, both are worth cruising through in search of bargains. Clothing, jewellery and electronics among other goodies to be found there.

OTOP MARKETS
- provide a more traditional shopping experience. They are
located roughly opposite the Hard Rock Cafe on Rat-U-Thit Road and cover
a couple of acres. There
are the usual tourist market goods to be found here. Clothing,
footwear, wood carvings, pottery, CDs and DVDs and lots more. Food and drink is
available when you need a rest from all that walking. |

STREET MARKETS - you will find shopping markets at all of the main beaches. Most sell the same type of goods and it pays to take your time to look around and then start haggling in order to find the best prices. The actual amount and choice of goods for sale around the streets, is mind boggling and can be quite overwhelming for first time visitors. Lots of leather goods and handicrafts available. |

PHUKET CITY - Some of the best shopping is to be found in Phuket City. Large shopping centres such as Central Festival, Robinsons and Ocean Plaza are worth a visit and the markets just up the road from the bus terminal are excellent. The weekend markets just off Choafa West Road are a must for bargain hunters. Lots of variety at great prices and a huge food market to sample all those Thai delicacies. |

ROADSIDE MARKETS - Finally, if you happen to be driving or riding around and spot one of the many roadside markets, do yourself a favour, stop and have a wander through and immerse yourself in a little bit of real Thai culture. |
